Resignation Letter

This is an open letter to Knighton town Forum following the meeting on 24 August.

Dear Chairman, Executive Committee and Members of the Forum

You may have been somewhat surprised when I resigned from the Forum during the early part of this evenings meeting. It was made very clear in the previous meeting that my satisfaction of qualities anticipated as Secretary were woefully inadeqaute. The unguarded, casual remark made by a member this evening, arguing that the Secretary resign, was heeded.

Knighton had an opportunity in the re-formation of The Forum to introduce fresh initiaves, with an altogether younger Executive that was prepared to try new marketing strategies for our small community which had for so long been stifled. The reality is the opposite where an embedded, staid approach continues to dominate the municipal and cultural affairs with an unhealthy grasp that continues to stunt the vitality of the town.

When the Forum is ready to embrace technology and new initiative with a genuine interest, free from prejudice and received opinion then I will be pleased to be involved. In the meanwhile, I will collect the papers belonging to the Forum and have these ready for collection after the Bank Holiday.

I wish the Forum success in its future.

Yours truly

A J Gilmour
