The Minutes were accepted (with spelling to be amended), proposed by Mrs Oram and seconded by Mr Watkins

It was agreed that in the absence of Mr Kell, the Secretary should write press releases. The Forum discussed the appointment of Development Officer for Knighton. The Mayor stated that an appointment was in abeyance pending funding and awaiting a decision from Powys County Council.

The Town Council has generously agreed to part fund a part time post. The general mood is that the Forum want a full time Officer. Lesley Wooton (who had held the appointment to 31 December 1999) was able to confirm that the lady who had been appointed was in fact the Community Enterprise Officer for East Radnor and based in Presteigne. Knowing the importance that a development Officer has in small, isolated communities, this officer was to be a temporary link until such time as an appointment was made.

Lesley Wootton agreed to attempt to get out a newsletter in time for the Medieval Pageant and Weekend. Items to be included are Museum, Take pArt, Knighton Show (26 August).

It was agreed that the funding committee should meet at the earliest opportunity. Lesley Wootton agreed to speak to Harry Rose of PAVO (Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations) for details on funds available for administration.

The finger posts are ready for erection. These will be situated at Bowling Green Lane junction with Ludlow Road, Brookside Square and Clock Tower.

It was agreed that a Public Liability Insurance policy be obtained for all events that the Forum stage. The premium (as it is a new policy without track record) has been obtained through a local brokerage in the sum of £523.62 per annum. Where there are several events during the 12 months that the policy is valid, it was agreed that a charge appear in the accounts for insurance that each event attracted and apportioned annually when compiling the accounts for the Forum.

It was noted that the talk "In search of Owain Glyndwr" had a surplus income over expenditure and this would be applied to the Museum Trust. Knighton Tourism 2000.

The run up to the Medieval Weekend and Pageant will start in earnest on Saturday with costume displays in Library, Red Cross shop and the Chandos shop formerly occupied by Mr Watkins. This shop will also be the Event Office. The camp sets up on 7 June. Martin Ruttie has flown into several schools to publicise the Weekend and flyers continue to be issued in the local area as well as further afield. Angus Gilmour agreed to write a press release to be issued to the Evening Standard and Time Out - two very popular and influential London papers.

It was noted with some dismay that the Powys Website badly needs to be updated and take pART to be included in a publicity campaign.

The forum were asked to consider ideas which could take advantage of funding that was proposed by CADW. While it was agreed that it was important for new initiatives to be mooted, it was felt that creating an idea tailored to the funding was not the best approach. It was agreed that an idea or scheme be developed and funding then obtained to implement that idea. Mr Bright produced large scale drawings for the Forum to consider on redeveloping Broad Street. No comment was made to these plans. There being no further business, the meeting was closed.
